After I had the twins I was sent home with all kids of goodies, and because I had twins, I got two of everything! Talk about jackpot lol! One of the things I was given was a packet from the library (times two) that had some information about the library, a CD of children's music, and two children's board books. A few months after having the twins I finally decided to go through all the stuff I had been given by the hospital. When I went through the packet from the library I realized there was a form in there. The form was to be filled out if you were interested in dedicating a book to the birth of your child. I thought that was really neat, so I filled out the forms and took them to the library. After the twins turned one, I remembered the books. The library was supposed to send me something in the mail telling me what book they dedicated to the twins, but either I didn't get it, or I threw it away thinking it was junk. So one day I went to the library to inquire. They did a quick search and found the books that were dedicated to the twins. They were checked out at the time so they had put a request for them. After a couple of weeks I got an e-mail saying the books were on hold for me. I went to the library and picked up the books and took them home. I read them to the twins, and then of course had to take a picture of the books. While I would have loved to have gotten a picture of the twins holding their books, if you know my children you know that was an impossibility.
I just had to share these pictures because I think this is an amazing service the library provides. I like the idea that if and when we move from Champaign, there is a little piece of my children that will always be in Champaign, my hometown that I love so much! And when they are older, and we come back to Champaign to visit family, I can take them to the library and show them two special books dedicated to two very special people. A reminder that no matter where we go, Champaign will always be home.
